Drawing on a Tablet

I have been (re)learning how to paint on my tablet using the Autodesk app.  Here are a few paintings from a recent trip to California.

Guitar painting - work in progress

Starting off my 2nd and last year of grad school by moving into a new studio.  This is the first painting I've done in oil in a while and it's also the first painting in my new studio.  Here are some progress shots.  The final one to follow.

shots of brooklyn and the delaware river gap from this spring

These are all 35mm film photos from this spring.  I have been nurturing a compulsive photography habit this past year and things have set off this past month with the weather changing and the plants and trees starting to bloom.

COMPOSITE IMAGE

I've been working on the computer making some digital collages.  I still haven't gotten it down the way I want to get it but I am getting a bit closer.  Here is an example from my tiny NYC kitchen.

Figure drawing

Figure drawings from the drink and draw hosted at Bathaus Coworking Space in Bushwick Brooklyn.  This drawing session is hosted like a typical figure drawing session with 30 second poses, 1 minute poses, 5 minute, 10 minute, and culminating with three 20 minute long poses.

Studio time

I'm happy to be in the studio these past few weeks working on xerox paintings, water colors, and even some glass paintings.  I've had a lot of time lately and it's given me an opportunity to explore a lot ideas that have been stewing for awhile.

"1 shot" paint on glass.  I did this one with a quill painting on the back of the glass.  I've never done anything quite like this but I'm really happy with how it came out.  I love the design that book ends the skull,

and the travel continues. . .

I spent the first part of the week in Aspen painting a mural for the Food and Wine Festival.  More travel means more photographs and more sketchbook drawings.  I've decided to intersperse them here.  The sketches are small, and the photographs are from disposable cameras.  I've been that guy this year.
